Cream Cheese Wonton Appetizers

A Fun Filler Until Thanksgiving Dinner is Ready to Keep The Family Happy

We can't forget about the appetizers on Thanksgiving! This is always my go to app for every holiday dinner and family gathering. I found this, yes you guest it, on Pinterest! This awesome recipe comes from JoyousApron . What I love about this recipe is how quick and easy it is to make. Set this out as your main appetizer and complement it with cheese, crackers, fruit, and veggie trays. These cream cheese wontons will have even your pickiest family members raving about your cooking. My favorite part about this recipe is that none of the ingredients are seasonal which means you'll be able to find all of the ingredients year round with no trouble. This recipe will also be great for Christmas dinner and for your New Year's Eve bash. Keep this going year round and serve this during summer cook outs as a fun appetizer!

Ingredients

8oz cream cheese

20 wonton wrappers (check produce at your grocery store, 1 pack should do)

3 tablespoons chopped green onions

1 tablespoon minced sweet onions

1 teaspoon sugar (or a light shake)

1/4 teaspoon salt

vegetable oil (or olive oil)

1 egg

3 tablespoon Thai sweet chili sauce (for dipping)

Directions

1) In a large bowl, combine and mix well softened cream cheese with chopped green onions, minced sweet onions, sugar and salt.

2) Crack an egg into a small bowl and whisk it. Set aside.

3) To wrap the wontons, spoon a teaspoon of cream cheese mixture onto the middle of a wonton.

4) Using a brush or use a finger, brush all four sides of the wonton with egg mixture.

5) Pick up two opposite corners and press them to each other, then pick up the other two opposite corners to the middle and press the sides together to seal and close the seams.

6) Repeat steps 3-5 until all the cream cheese mixture are gone.

7) When all the wontons are wrapped, pre-heat oven to 400 F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.

8) Put the wontons into the oven and bake for 7-8 minutes. Remove from oven and let them cool for 10 minutes.

9) Serve with Thai sweet chili sauce and enjoy.

What's great about these bad boys is that you can serve them along side with your Thanksgiving feast or break them back out after dinner before the pies are served. These will also be perfect for any late night snacks once everyone has gone home. If you and your family are having a potluck this will be perfect to bring as your dish. Comment below if you'll be giving this recipe a try at Thanksgiving and what your favorite pre dinner snack is to have every year!
