I'm Here To Tell You Halloween Is Not Cancelled & Here Are Fun Covid Friendly Actives

This year is much different than in the past years but, that doesn't mean you still can't have some Halloween fun. Especially, this year since the 31st lands on a Saturday! Normally you'd most likely be planning a bar crawl with your besties or significant other but, sadly that won't happen. On the bright side you'll be saving a lot of money that would have been spend on drinks and Uber fees. I've put together a list of fun actives to enjoy this Halloween that are Covid friendly. You can still have parties and gatherings with friends and family they might just look a little different and in smaller groups. The best part about the list I've put together is that they can all be enjoyed while wearing a costume. My favorite part of Halloween has always been dressing up in costumes and not even covid will keep me from doing so. With that being said grab the people closet to you and a fun costume for some Halloween fun and start celebrating.
Small Halloween Costume Party

We may not be able to have your typical large Halloween party with 20 plus people but, we can still have small costume parties. Try invited a small number of people about 10, including close family and friends. Stick to people you already have seen and are used to there germs. If the weather is nice out maybe take the normal basement party outside on the back patio. Take the decorations and treats outside so you can space out just make sure to bring blankets and jackets to stay warm. Having the party inside and outside will give people plenty of room to space out and enjoy themselves while they jam out to the Halloween classic Monster Mash.
Taking Part In Trick Or Treating

What is Halloween without trick or treating and this activity can easy be modify on both ends for this year. There is nothing more fun than going out with younger family members while they go trick or treating. Be safe and wear mask which can easily be made fun for Halloween. Get matching face mask for you and your family while walking around the neighborhood. If you're worried about the kids who are old enough to wear a mask to get on board you can make special ones to match costumes. You can let them pick out their own mask in stores or make one to match their costumes to make it more fun for them. When giving out candy this year you can easily adapt a 2020 version. Make little goodie bags for the kids so they don't have to dig through a bowl of candy. Place a few mini bars inside fun Halloween baggies that can be picked up at the dollar store. Place the baggies in a bowl and leave the bowl on the front porch or on a table at the end of the drive away.
Carving Pumpkins Date Night

The best part of Halloween being on a Saturday is that most people have off all day instead of cramping fun activities in a couple hours. This can be turned into a all day spooky fun activity for a great date or with your best friends. Head to the pumpkin patch during the day and find the perfect pumpkin for your master piece. Spend the rest of the day cleaning the pumpkins and carving the pumpkins. Put on your favorite Halloween movies and have plenty of snacks and candy corn to munch on while carving. Once you have finished the Jack-o'-lantern they can be placed outside for them to greet trick or treaters.
Bonfire With The Besties

If you love a night of ghost stories and marshmallows this is a perfect way to spend Halloween. Being outside makes this a lower risk but, feel free to wear your face mask when sitting outside. Try to stick with invited your closet friends and people you already spend a lot of time around. Try to give a little space around the fire and grab blankets for everyone so you don't have to share. Grab your favorite bon fire snacks and recall your favorite spooky stores for a fun Halloween night. Make it really fun and have everyone dress up in costume to for a mini costume party.
Movie Night With Halloween Candy and Apple Cider

Having a movie night with the rest of your household is always a great idea. You can watch with the other people in your house or call your significant other or your BFF to come over and join you. Have a fun and cozy date night or a fun girls night with tons of candy and hot apple cider. Instead of leaving out candy for the kids keep it for yourself while binging out on your favorite Halloween themed movies. Pop the popcorn and grab your favorite alcohol to spike the apple cider to have while snuggled up in your blankets. You can dress up in costumes for some added holiday fun or put on your favorite cozy pjs to watch movies in.
Bake Fall Desserts

Spend the day baking your favorite fall desserts or make it fun with Halloween themed treats. Grab all of your favorite recipes that call for pumpkin, apples, cinnamon, and ginger. Make cakes, loafs, pies, cookies or whatever your heart desires. You can either keep all the treats for yourself or spread the Halloween love. Head over to your family's or friend's homes and leave them a pleasant surprised on their front porch. Spreading holiday cheer doesn't have to just be for Christmas.
Host Family Dinner

Instead of through a party that will last for several hours you can invite your family over for a few hours to have dinner. Make it festive and have everyone dress up in costumes while having dinner. Also have fun with the menu and make it spooky for Halloween with bloody wine served with eye ball olives. Or have a pot lock and have everyone contribute to the fun festive dinner and make it more interactive for your guest. Put out all of your spooky decorations and put on haunted house music to get everyone in the spooky mood for the holiday.
Have A Wine Tasting and Charcuterie Board Party

What is a girls night without a good bottle of wine and good snacks to enjoy. Have your BFFs over for your own wine tasting event. If you miss going wine tasting like I do you'll definitely enjoy this Halloween suggestion. Head to the liquor store and ask an employee what four bottles they would recommend that you haven't tried before. Then hit up Pinterest for Charcuterie board ideas and get creative. Have fun with it and use a Halloween theme for ideas of what to use on your board. Another idea is to make a dessert board with different chocolates instead of typical savory board. Have your friends dress in costumes and get Halloween themed wine glasses to use. Put on your favorite movies and t.v Halloween specials while tasting new wines.
Pick Apples

I've mentioned before in another fall post about going apple picking but it's just such a fun activity. Wear your mask and stick to tress that other people aren't at to keep your distance and this is a low risk activity. Go with a few of your friends or make it a fun date adventure. If you want some personal time or just want to pick up a few apples for your pie you can go by yourself too. This is also a great idea if you have kids to keep busy before going trick or treating. They can get dressed up in their costumes to make it even more fun for them while picking apples. This can easily be turned into an all day trip and hit a corn maze afterwards to keep the Halloween fun going.
Craft A D.I.Y Fall Project

If you are a crafty bee you can spend the day working on your lasted fall project. You can make a Halloween or fall wreath to hang on your front door or knit fall scarfs for yourself or to give to others. You can spend some much needed alone time working on craft projects or invite your friends over to join you. Make some coco and throw on a Halloween classic movie to make this a fun girls day. Make it an all day project and go to the craft store in the morning with your friends and bounce ideas off each other then head back home to craft together.
Just because the world is looking a little different right now doesn't mean we have to lose Halloween. With the holiday landing on a Saturday it's just too perfect to do absolutely nothing, we just have to find a way to modify our Halloween fun. Have smaller parties than usual or move the festivities outside. No matter what you do this year you will still need a great costume to wear.
