Here Are 20 Fun Ideas To Spend Valentine's Other Than A Romantic Dinner

It has been long speculated by some people that Valentine's day was created by greeting card companies to sell cards but, that is very far from the truth. This romantic holiday has very long history which combines the persons St. Valentine's and a Pagan holiday. At one point in time the holiday was out lawed because it was seen as "un-Christian". Towards the end of the 5th century Pope Gelasius declared February 14th St. Valentine's Day. In France and in England during the Middle Ages it was commonly thought that February 14th was the start of birds' mating season. Thus the connection of February 14th being the day of love began. Valentine's Day holds a special place in my heart since it is my boyfriend's and mines anniversary as well! I am so excited that Valentine's is only a week away. I am especially excited for this year because Valentine's is on a Sunday which means a weekend long celebration. We will be doing special activities all weekend long so I wanted to come up with a couple of different ideas. Although, I do enjoy a fancy dinner at a nice restaurants I wanted to come up other ideas for a fun spin on this holiday. If you feel like you are stuck in a Valentine's Day rut with the same thing every year try one of these ideas instead. Even if you don't have a significant other to celebrate with this year gather up all of your other single friend's and pick one of these ideas to do.

1) Make Dinner Together

Instead of going out to dinner and fighting crowds why not stay home and make dinner together. Try a new recipe from Pinterest or make your favorite meal. This will be a great bonding experience for the two of you. Pop your favorite bottle and have a fun time in the kitchen.

2) Go Out For Breakfast or Lunch

If you want to spend Valentine's evening at home why not go out for breakfast or lunch instead. This is a great way to still dine out at your favorite restaurant and have a romantic meal while avoiding the big dinner crowds. For all of the breakfast lovers this would make for a great date idea.
