Kill it this summer with a new trendy bathing suit while feeling like a freaking queen!

Although our summer is looking a little different this year due to quarantine you still deserve a new cute and stylish bathing suit this summer. If your beach plans got cancelled you can still get that new suit you've been eyeing up. Even if your just sun bathing in your back yard or hanging out with that awesome friend with a pool your'e going to look incredible in your new suit. I used to absolutely hate bathing suit season as a teen and would usually end up with me crying in a dressing room. Then the string bikini trend died and now I love going bathing suit shopping. In my own personal bathing suit shopping experience as a curvy mid-sized girl I've noticed trends have started to become more flattering to all shapes and sizes and not just for thin girls.
My favorite store to shop at every year for bathing suits is Aerie! If your'e not familiar with the brand they are American Eagle's lingerie and loungewear line. They have been a huge game changer in my bathing suit shopping. I actually get excited to go bikini shopping which is something I'd never thought I would say! Everyone needs at least one suit that makes them feel like a bad ass queen! I highlighted a few suits to show on the post from Aerie but, I tried my best to show suits from multiple stores so everyone could find something they loved from their favorite stores!
Here are a few of the bathing suit trends I've noticed this year while shopping around that I'm living for!
One Shoulders
I noticed in general one shoulders have been a big trend this summer so far. I've seen this trend for tank tops and dresses. Even working at David's Bridal one shoulder dresses started to become really popular in all of our departments. I was so excited when I saw this trend extend to swim suit tops!
This is the Women's one Shoulder Bikini Top from the brand Xhilaration at Target. I'm obsessed with the cut out one shoulder strap on this top! It's so fun and unique but, still a classic black bikini at the same time. Now this is going to make for an interesting tan line up top with the cut out but oh well it's not like you'll be out in public a lot this summer. Hopefully asymmetrical bathing suites will be around for a while because they are just so stinking cute for every body shape!
Next we have the Bow One-Shoulder One-Piece from Jcrew. I love a black one piece moment! Honestly to me it's just a swim suit staple and everyone needs to have at least one at all time. ALL OF THE TIMES! With the one shoulder bow it makes this such a statement while looking so classic at the same time. I personal love the one shoulder look the most with the one piece I might have to order myself one this year.
Thicker/ Crop Tops
Growing up with the tiny string bikini fad I'm so hyped for these thicker more coverage tops. I've seen tops that vary in designs some are more like sports bras to tops cut like crop tops and I love all of them!
For our first bikini crop top we have the Ribbed Crop Tank Bikini Top from Hollister. Which can I say Hollister has been making a come back. I stopped shopping there when I was a sophomore in high school but, lately they have come back on my radar. I might have to make a trip once I can go back to the mall. Okay back to the suit, I love how simple this top is and how much coverage it provides. Not everyone wants everything hanging out for the world and I love how this caters to the girls that want a little more fabric for a bikini. One of my new favorite things to do is mix and match with my two pieces and this would look so cute with a bottom with a fun pattern to go with the plain red top. This suit is also available in two other colors.
This next top is the Sydney Top- Handmade Knotted Bikini Top from Jordsswim on her Etsy shop. The top is in her Baby Blue shade she has a lot of different color options which is great! She also makes matching bottoms as well if you want a matching set. The Sydney Top also has the knotted looked which I also noticed trending this year that I love! Once again this suit provides more coverage and looks so cute with the added detail of the tie at the bottom for a fun flare. The best part of this suit is that you support a small business with your order!
High Cut Bottoms
My whole life has been waiting for this trend because I'm just absolutely living for this look. I even bought myself a pair at Aerie and they have been my go to when I'm laying out. I just feel so confident in them and so sassy I just can't express enough how much I love them and this is probably my favorite bathing suit trend.
These are the Aerie High Cut Bikini Bottom from American Eagle in the Light Blue design. I have these same pair in a leopard print that I adore. I love the retro look of the high leg and how fun and sassy it is. This cut is just so great! They also come in so many different patterns available which is great for mix matching with tops. They also have a Super High Cut Cheekiest bottoms that are so fun and great if you want a high cut leg but, don't want a high rise waist.
Up next is this one Piece Amor Y Besos Cat Bustier from PacSun. I always love a fruit pattern and nothing says summer than a cute little cherry moment like this suit. I love the look of the high cut with the one piece. The structured cut of the bustier cups mixed with the high cut looks so bad ass! You don't have to wear a bikini to feel sexy and beautiful in a bathing suit! You can feel just as amazing and pretty in a one piece and sometimes I feel more confident in my one piece.
Animal Print
Once again this is a trend I fell for this summer and I regret nothing. I love the look of mixing a print with a solid so, that's what I did for these pieces I chose to highlight. Leopard and cheetah prints have always been poplar but after Tiger King they have been EVERYWHERE and one EVERYTHING!

I paired the Aerie Keyhole Bandeau Bikini Top with the Aerie Jacquard High Cut Cheeky Bikini Bottoms. I love how they used actual leopards on the suit for another take on animal print. I'm also crazy about the cut of the top! Everything about it is very unique and fun! I love the key hole detail and the gold strap they used. They look so cute with the matching bottoms but, I love the idea of pairing them with white bottoms. This lets the top be the statement piece of the suit. On top of that I also love the idea of mixing patterns and textures! This also combines the high cut trend to make this one very trendy personalized suit.
For the second look I combined the Women's Faux Wrap Halter Bikini Top - Kona Sol and the Women's Ribbed Cheeky Bikini Bottom - Shade & Shore both from Target. I love how the print on the bottoms is a smaller pattern compared to the bigger leopard spots that's used more often. I'm obsessed with this combo! The top has such a fun design to go with the cute animal print bottoms. I love the cut with the faux wrap with out having the stress of having to worry about your top coming unwrapped.
These are some of my favorite swim suit trends for 2020 that make me so exited for bathing suit season! I had a lot of fun making this post and hopefully you found a fun trend your'e excited to try. I also hope you guys have fun shopping for your suits and always remember that your body is not the problem, the suit is the problem! Your'e all beautiful and so is your body shape!! Later in the summer I'm thinking about making another must check out suits from Aerie let me know in the comments if that's something you guys would be interested to see! Happy swim suit shopping!
